Top 10 Kitchen Staging Tips

Posted on Thursday 5 November, 2020

Here are our top ten tips for getting your kitchen ready, in preparation for those all important photographs of your home to go on the property listing websites when marketing your property for sale:

•Clear the work tops to show off how much counter space is available. The microwave and kettle are just about the only things you should consider leaving out on the worktops. Too many appliances and clutter on show can be unattractive in your kitchen.

•Fridge magnet collections often make the space feel overly personalised. Anything on the outside of the fridge will make the entire kitchen look cluttered.

•Kitchens are a collection of hard surfaces and often neutral colors, so adding some color and texture is important - pick a sophisticated colour and purchase kitchen towels, pot holders, accessories or cookware of that colour. Sticking to a colour palette creates instant cohesion.

•Wipe down the outside of cabinets and the countertops. Deep clean all integrated appliances especially the oven and sink. A sparkling-clean kitchen is one that looks its best.

•Update your cabinets in a trending colour. Consider re-facing and re-staining your kitchen cabinets instead of replacing them if your budget is limited. A fresh coat of grey paint on old cabinets can work wonders.

•A rustic farm table or bench with warm wood tones will add charm and character, in addition to providing more work surface.

•Consider adding a contemporary lighting fixture that will serve as a focal point and lend an air of elegance and luxury. A couple of gorgeous pendants always sets the scene.

•Replace dated laminate countertops. Never underestimate the impact your worktop choice will have on the overall scheme. Cheaper options can be good idea but may not last as long more durable solid wood or quartz work surface.

•Wood cutting boards in different sizes, woods and shapes is a great styling tool. Cutting boards are not only useful but wood tones add warmth to any kitchen.

•Consider a fresh coat of paint to freshen up the walls. White paint is one of the most popular colours used in interior design. The choice is elegant and timeless and makes rooms appear bigger.
